This policy covers the websites run by Destination Innovate, LLC: destinationinnovate.com, hostsandhometeams.com (Hosts & Home Teams and The Club) and jenniferbarbee.com, plus the email lists, events and memberships those sites lead to. When this page says “we,” it means Destination Innovate.
The short version: we collect what you choose to give us, we use it to do what you asked for, and we don’t sell it.
What we collect
What you type into our forms. When you request a report, join a list, sign up for The Club, register for an event or start a conversation, we collect what the form asks for. Usually that’s your name, email address, organization and any message you write.
Payment details, handled by Stripe. Club memberships and other purchases are processed by Stripe. Stripe collects your card details. We see your name, email, what you bought and whether your membership is active. We never see or store your full card number.
Event and briefing details. Live briefings and workshops run on Zoom. When you join, other participants and we can see the name you use. Club briefings are recorded so members can watch later, and those recordings live in the members’ library.
Email activity. Our emails are sent through Mailchimp, which tells us whether an email was opened and which links were clicked. We use that to see what’s useful and to keep the list healthy.
Basic technical information. Like nearly every website, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you requested. Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address when a page loads.
Things saved only on your device. Some of our interactive pages, such as checklists in Club briefings, save your progress in your own browser. That information stays on your device. We can’t see it.
How we use it
We use your information to:
- send you what you asked for, such as a report, a newsletter or a briefing;
- run your membership, including access to the members’ library and member emails;
- reply when you reach out, and follow up on conversations you started;
- understand which of our research and content is useful; and
- keep records we’re required to keep, such as payment records.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell your information, and we don’t share it with other companies for their own marketing.
We use a small number of service providers to run our business, and they handle information on our behalf: Mailchimp (email), Stripe (payments), Zoom (live sessions), Google Workspace (email and files) and our website host. We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or someone’s safety.
If we ever work with a partner on a specific program, such as a destination that sponsors Club memberships for its local hosts, we’ll tell you what’s shared before you join that program.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe anytime. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom.
- Manage or cancel your membership through the billing link in your Club welcome email, or by emailing us.
- See, correct or delete your information. Email us and we’ll take care of it. We may keep payment records for as long as tax and accounting rules require.
How long we keep it
We keep list information until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. We keep membership and payment records for as long as we need them to run the membership and meet legal and tax requirements.
Security
We use reputable providers, limit who on our team can see member information, and keep the members’ library behind a password. No system is perfectly secure, so if something ever goes wrong, we’ll tell the people affected.
Children
Our sites and programs are for professionals and adults. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update it here and change the effective date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll let members and subscribers know by email.
